Question by Cris J: How did screenplay writers get their start?

I enjoy writing screenplays and want the world to see them one day. How do writers usually get their start?

And if this counts as anything, my favorite writers are Gasper Noe (Irreversible, I stand alone) and Chan wook park (Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Joint area security)

Below is a link to the Creative Screenwriting Podcast series. Over two hundred hours of free interviews with writer, directors and producers. How they got started is one of the main questions covered in each interview. There's also, "The First Time I did it for Money," which is available on Amazon and also covers breaking in stories.

Everyone has a different way they broke in.
